Ebba Matz
With a solid platform on the Swedish art scene, Matz’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and public commissions since the early 1990’s. Her second exhibition at the gallery opened in 2017.
Ebba Matz has a vast experience from public commissions, such as the sculpture Sch, tyst, lyssna (2016), commissioned by Public Art Agency Sweden and placed at the entrance of the Royal College of Music, Stockholm.The concrete floor with intarsia at St Johannesplan in Malmö (2014) is a result of a cooperation with White Architects. In the project Déjà vu at the Dragarbrunn Square in Uppsala (2010), Matz made water-jet-cut sheets of stainless steel in the shape of ink blots on paper, while the sculpture Här/Here (2006) in Gothenburg takes the form of an enlarged map pin, to mention a few.
Ebba Matz (b. 1963) graduated from the Royal Institute of Arts in 1992. Her work has been shown at Färgfabriken, Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Cité des Arts, Paris, Wanås Art, Moderna Museet c/o Malmö Konsthall and Magasin III and in numerous other exhibitions in France, Germany, USA, Canada, and Poland. She was awarded the Moderna Museet Sculpture Prize in the memory of Sigrid Lind in 2001. Matz’s work is represented in the collections of Moderna Museet, Malmö Art Museum, Gothenburg Art Museum, Public Art Agency Sweden and Dunkers Kulturhus.
